About Us

The Pavilion Players Stage School is a new group operated by the Gorleston Pavilion Trust and is aimed towards young people aged 4-18. The school will provide quality education across the skills needed to access careers in the arts, both in 'typical' theatre craft but also beyond into other sectors.

Our History

The Gorleston Pavilion Trust, founded in July of 2010, has historically focused on restoring the 123 year old Pavilion Theatre building in order to ensure it's continued success for at least another century.

Having taken over the management of the theatre in February 2024, it has now expanded it's operations as a cultural centre, providing spaces for the local community and engaging audiences from further afield. With a core objective of 'helping local people to find jobs in the arts', the trustees decided that engaging with youngsters from as early as 4 years old in a stage school setting would give them the best opportunity to develop their interest and ultimately provide them with the best route to arts employment.

'The Pavilion Players' is an adult amateur drama group that meets throughout the year staging fundraising plays, murder mysteries and now an autumn musical, so bringing this group together with a brand new stage school will ensure that the Pavilion is serving all members of the community, regardless of age, under one group name.

Our brand new 'Pavilion Players Stage School' will provide quality education for young people from the age of 4 upwards across skills needed to access careers in the arts, both in 'typical' theatre craft but also beyond into other sectors. Staff will consist of a combination of qualified teachers and industry professionals to ensure that your youngster receives the best education possible in specific areas to help them develop their craft and to get prepared for a career in the arts.

Terms will mirror school term times, breaking for half term and offering additional workshop opportunities during the school holidays. Every term, all skills learned will be put on display in a showcase that highlights the progress made of each student with ensemble and solo performances. Additional opportunities to perform in full productions will also be available to students, where they can experience a formal audition process to access the chance to work alongside industry professionals, tech, set and costumes. It is our belief that these experiences will help best prepare students for the rigours of a competitive industry, with an understanding of not just what it's like, but how to impress and continue to work as you specify your passion.

Just in case that doesn't sound like enough(!) the school will also be looking to develop a range of opportunities for all ages and abilities, so yes - that means we have a spot for you!
